A chat with Lewis Ritchings, Product Owner at MV

We caught up with new MV Product Owner Lewis Ritchings to find out a little about him and why he’s so excited to have joined MV.

What is your background? Where have you joined us from?

Most of my career has been within Financial Services having spent the last 17 years at a building society. My career in financial services began with a brief spell in the customer services team before I moved into a change role within the group’s Employee Share Plans division where I was focussed on delivering an online transactional customer portal for corporate clients and end customers.

Following that I lead a multi-disciplined change team tasked with the continuous improvement of our core and digital platform and the delivery of various projects and regulatory change.  A couple of years ago I moved in to a broader role within the groups digital team as a Digital Product Owner. During this time, I focussed on a number of customer-facing changes such as website redesigns, optimisation of customer journeys and also led the group’s digital approach to specific parts of Consumer Duty regulations.

What appealed to you about working with digital banking platforms?

I take a lot of enjoyment from working within digital banking as it’s constantly evolving as customer and clients needs change over time. The recent changes brought in by the Consumer Duty means that financial institutions must consider how well it does in providing good outcomes to it’s customers. This aligns perfectly to my role as Product Owner as this is all about making sure that customers voices are heard, we challenge processes and then design journeys which are simple, fit for purpose and meets the needs of the customers we serve.

What appealed to you about working at Mutual Vision?

Much like a Building Society, Mutual Vision’s sole purpose is to support it’s customers which again aligns well to the Product Owner role and my prior experience within a Building Society. In my role, I’ll focus on delivering the Core Transformation programme, working on new technology and services which will create a market leading financial solution to our clients, which is an exciting place to be! On first meeting colleagues at Mutual Vision it was clear how everyone is aligned to the same goals and since joining MV, everyone I’ve met so far have been nothing but friendly and supportive and I’m looking forward to getting stuck in to delivering some of these transformational changes for the business.
