Who are we looking for?
The Business Development Manager (BDM) role has been created to promote Mutual Vision’s new strategy and approach to the market, and will be pivotal in achieving the ambitious growth aspirations of the business. The BDM will be a key member of the Business Development team, reporting directly to the Head of Professional Services and will spearhead Mutual Vision’s engagement with the industry, our customers and our prospective customers and will be responsible for the achievement of our business growth targets.
The BDM will promote the Mutual Vision strategy and brand in the market, work with the Product team to design innovative commercial models that differentiate us from our competitors, identify prospective new customers and secure new business with both existing and new customers. The BDM will also develop relationships with existing customers and assist in developing commercial relationships with our technology partners. The BDM will work closely with the CEO, CPO (Product), CTO, CFO) and Head of Professional Services to further develop the Mutual Vision business strategy and deliver solutions that delight our customers.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
- Promote the Mutual Vision strategy of providing a Digital Platform/Ecosystem for the Financial Services sector and positioning Mutual Vision as the Strategic Technology Partner for our customers.
- Promote Mutual Vision’s unique ownership structure, ethical values-based approach, and unique positioning in the market.
- Deliver new business from both new and existing customers to achieve Mutual Vision’s ambitious growth targets.
- Work with the Head of Professional Services on the Mutual Vision bid and proposal process and liaise with Mutual Vision colleagues to ensure Mutual Vision maximise their business win opportunities.
- Responsible for the full business development lifecycle – from generating new sales leads and developing opportunities through to successful negotiation and closure.
- Ensure an effective handover of new business wins into operational delivery and ongoing support.
- Grow the sales pipeline and provide effective reporting and forecasting of sales activities using agreed KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators).
- Assist in the development of a community of technology partners that can provide complementary products, technologies and services to our customers.
- Develop the relationship with Mutual Vision customers and prospective customers and represent their interests within the Mutual Vision Senior Leadership Team (SLT).
- Undertake market research and share market intelligence with the Mutual Vision team.
- Develop customer accounts through effective relationship management and monitor and maximise customer satisfaction and value/benefit through regular engagement and communication (including Account Review Meetings, User Group Meetings etc).
- Work with the Product team on developing innovative commercial models and approaches that support our disruptive strategy, leveraging our unique ownership model and differentiate us from our competitors in our sector.
Key Activities
- Collaborative effectively with the Head of Professional Services and the rest of the Mutual Vision SLT, Mutual Vision’s customers and partners to deliver and develop Mutual Vision’s new strategy.
- Engage proactively with the industry sector and industry bodies to promote Mutual Vision’s profile and position in the market.
- Attend, and present at industry conferences, and manage Mutual Vision’s presence at exhibitions and industry events.
- Develop Mutual Vision’s approach to creating sales presentations and demonstrations and bid & proposal documents and build a base of sales and marketing collateral than can be used efficiently on future bids.
- Work with the Head of Professional Services on the acquisition of new business to achieve the ambitious growth targets of the business.
- Engage with customers and prospects at all levels – from shop floor to C-Suite level.

- Proven experience of developing profitable relationships with customers, prospects and stakeholders.
- A demonstrable track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets.
- Outstanding communication, presentation and persuasion skills.
- Excellent influencing skills, including the ability to convince colleagues and senior stakeholder, and the credibility to promote solutions to prospective customers.
- Collaborative attitude, with a strong sense of always working to the benefit of the team and the industry as a whole.
- Relentless commitment to delivering the best possible outcomes for our customers whilst never compromising values and ethical business practices.
- Knowledge, understanding and experience of selling and promoting Digital Platform/Ecosystem based technology solutions would be highly advantageous (Cloud/SaaS, OpenAPI’s, MicroServices).
- Previous experience of the Financial Services sector would be advantageous but not essential.
- Willingness to travel extensively throughout the UK and to stay away from home when required.
Key Relationships
As a key member of the Business Development Team, the BDM will need to forge close and collaborative working relationships with the SLT and their teams. The BDM will also be expected to engage extensively with customers, prospective customers, strategic technology supplier partners, industry bodies, regulators and the Mutual Vision Board.

- Salary: Up to £50,000 depending on knowledge and experience.
